We describe CHAIN TRACKS as a plastic insert in which a roller chain travels--plus a metal mounting.
CHAIN GUIDES are simply a plastic profile used to carry a Roller Chain. At our plant, Claremont Polymer Shapes also produces GUIDES to carry Round, Flat and 'V'-Belts. Usually GUIDES are manufactured using black, abrasion resistant Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. This product has slightly better abrasive wear resistance and load bearing capability, compared with natural UHMW-PE, while maintaining its low coefficient of friction. And the black does not show the grease and dirt that accumulates from the Roller Chain. For FOOD CONTACT applications or other such applications, we can supply GUIDES in the natural, FDA-approved UHMW-PE.
For higher load applications, GUIDES can be manufactured from Oil-Filled Cast Nylon 6; the green colour is industrial and the natural, ivory colour, is FDA-approved. This material will bear 2 1/2 times the load that the black abrasion resistant UHMW polyethylene can handle and possesses a similarly low coefficient of friction. While Oil-Filled Cast Nylon 6 is more costly, better performance in higher loaded applications may be worth the premium.
This table shows standard sizes to which we manufacture CHAIN GUIDES. When inquiring, please specify the material from which you wish the GUIDE to be manufactured. Round, Flat and 'V'-Belt GUIDES are produced to your specifications. Simply provide us with a drawing, sketch or sample and Claremont Polymer Shapes would be pleased to manufacture a custom GUIDE for you.

Aluminum Conveyor CHAIN TRACKS are produced from extruded Aluminum Alloy 6061, T6 Temper. Standard inserts for carrying Roller Chain are manufactured from Black Abrasion Resistant UHMW Polyethylene. Please see the table for details.
Stainless Steel and Galvanized Steel Mounted Conveyor CHAIN TRACKS, developed many years ago in Europe, are based on the following Box Channels, manufactured in pre-Galvanized Steel, and Stainless Steel Alloy S30400 roll-formed sections.
While the following GUIDE TRACKS are all based on carrying ANSI Roller Chain, they can be manufactured according to your specifications to carry Round-Cord Belts, Flat Belts and 'V'-Belts. GUIDE TRACKS can also be produced to carry other chains, such as British Standard.
When designing a TRACK or GUIDE to carry a plastic (or fabric) Round, Flat or 'V'-Belts, it may be necessary to have us manufacture the TRACK-insert or GUIDE from Anti-Static UHMW Polyethylene to aid in the dissipation of any static charge which may be generated.
